It’s the story of the Spanish exploration of current United States territory under Hernando de Soto, who explored Florida and the Mississippi River. Personally, I think that he and the other conquistadors are excessively portrayed as evil and ruthless men (not as if they weren’t, but they were a product of their time and context). Despite that, it’s still probably the best account on the explorer and conquistador Hernando de Soto.
